Why Albireo?

Albireo is the name of one of the stars in the constellation Cygnus (The Swan). The band first met at The Swan with Two Necks in Stockport and held sessions there in our early days. We felt it was appropriate that the band's name refer to the pub in some way, and after a "rigorous selection procedure", the name Albireo was settled upon.

Spelling

However, we have noticed that the English language gives plenty of opportunities for alternative spellings of our name. The most common variation is Alberio, but other interesting varieties include Albirio, Albereo and Alburio, and we have a creative spelling prize which currently goes to Albeereough.
